Dear Washington Farm Family,
I am one of those people who thrives on change. My daily routine is rarely routine. I grew up with the motto “Semper Gumby” or “Always Flexible”. This last week has tested the strength of that motto for sure! My daily expectations have changed completely as I know yours have. I have learned that I can live with much less routine than I even thought possible.
I have been spending a lot of time, praying and pondering what it means to be the church in this space. At Washington Farm we say we are a family growing in faith and service. I want to know how we continue to help one another grow in faith and service even as we are physically apart from one another. It is important to me as I know growth, the kind of grow God wants us to have, does not happen in isolation and fear.
As I ponder this, I want to give you an update on some things that are happening. We will not be having in person worship this coming Sunday or the next. That is March 22 or the 29. We will have a full live streamed worship Sunday morning at 10:00.
To get your offering to us during this period, you can give on-line very easily here, or mail your offering to PO Box 36 Mount Vernon, VA 22121.
We are working on some ways to connect together as it may be some time before we are with one another in church again. If you are on the internet, I will be continuing our Lenten Soup and Bread devotions at 6:30 on Wednesday evenings online only. In preparation for Sunday it would be helpful if you can tune in. We had almost 600 people join us Sunday which was a great problem to have but we were not quite prepared to go from our normal 50 to that many! So we have been working on solutions to make it easier especially on the webpage and will be testing it Wednesday evening. A smaller crowd will help with this!
I will have devotions and prayer twice a week that you can call into. Knowing that many in our congregation and community are not on facebook, I would like to make sure we are connecting in all the ways we can. Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:00, I will have a devotion and time of prayer. (Phone number: 929-436-2866 then use Meeting ID: 512 615 779)
If you have any needs at all that we can help with, please let us know. We are all in this together. My prayers are with you.
