*I will be on vacation next week from Weds July 22 through Tuesday, July 28. I will be checking my church email daily, admin@washingtonfarmumc.org. If you need to get in touch with me, that will be the best way to do so. The office will be closed those days. Pam Wolski and Mary Rohweder will be checking the phone for messages regularly. Donna Julian will be picking up the mail. Pastor Christina and her family will be on vacation at the same time. If you need to get a message to her, you can send me and email or call on my cell phone, 571-215-4990.

*Our thanks to all who helped in the set up, take down and check in processes with our first In Person Worship Service this past Sunday evening at 6 PM. We had 39 people attending. The confirmation class became members of the church and Communion was offered. Those in attendance said they were so happy just to see everyone and then be able to have communion (even though you took it your car to eat the bread and drink the “wine”).

*Our next In Person, Outside service will be on August 16 at 6 PM. The first in person outside service held this past Sunday at 6 PM went very well. The rain held off, our trusty Trustees put up canopies to keep the grassy area in as much shade as possible.  We welcomed our 3 new members of this year’s Confirmation Class into Washington Farm UMC at this service.

Please participate in Outreach’s drive to collect school supplies for Good Shepherd Housing.  The school supply list is attached to this message.  Outreach will need volunteers to help collect and deliver supplies.  We are planning a “Drive Through Drop Off” in the big parking lot across from the church on Saturday, July 25 from 9-11 AM. We will schedule one more opportunity to drop off your donated school supplies, Saturday, Aug 8, from 9 -11 AM.  Please email Scharn Robinson at scharnrobinson@yahoo.com if you would like to volunteer to assist.

As of now, if you are inter-acting in a church group, you will need to fill out a simple screening each week. The link is: https://www.evc.vaumc.org/Open/WorshipRegister/Index.cfm

If you would like to understand where your information goes when you fill out the Health Care Acknowledgment form, you can find instructions (as well as a link)  here: http://doc.vaumc.org/News2020/COVIDHealthFormInstructions.pdf  You may be asked to have your temperature checked. A mask is required for all church gatherings on campus and off.

WFUMC is online. If you choose to participate in any in-person service or ministry, please use best practices in handwashing, disinfecting touched surfaces, and social distancing.

GIVING –While our ministry, programs, and access are very different than a few weeks ago, the life of the church continues, as do our obligations. Our WFUMC family always has been generous with gifts and donations for our church, and to support our local outreach and connectional ministries as well as see to our staff and maintenance costs. Please consider all these needs as you look at your giving plans. You can mail donations to WFUMC, PO Box 36, Mt. Vernon, VA, 22121-0036, or give online. If you have any questions about online giving, please call or email Bob Enck: 571-329-5940, enckfamily2010@yahoo.com

*July 16 Update from Pastor Christina:

Thank you to all who worked so hard to make this past Sunday night a success!! To those who set up and took down, pre-registered, wore masks and showed up with lawn chairs and joyous attitudes. It was such a delight to be together. As we continue with our “soft” re-opening, thank you for helping us learn how to do this well so we can keep one another safe and healthy.

*Bible Study is taking a break for the next month but we look forward to being back together on Wednesday nights after Labor Day. We will start up again on September 9th with a study by Justo Gonzalez, “When Christ Lives In Us”. Copies of the student book can be picked up in the office.

We are looking for small group leaders to begin right away. These can be small groups that meet to worship together, eat dinner, have an on-line game night, etc. They can meet in person (with appropriate social distancing, on-line or over the phone). Ideas are endless for what you can do together! If you are interested but want help, contact Pastor Christina or Sam Barnes.

If you or someone in your household becomes ill, please let me know so we can support you. Although we are apart, your wellbeing, both physically and emotionally, is ever on my heart and mind. I am here for you!
