*Outreach is initiating a new program in association with the monthly Rising Hope Food Collection.
You can still bring food donations to the Education Building at any time during the month. Sy Berdux, the point person for this program, will transport donations to Rising Hope Mission Church in Alexandria. Please volunteer to help Sy collect. UMW 2021 COMMUNITY SERVICE UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION: Deadline Saturday, May 22.
Requirements: Will be a full-time student in the Fall (preference given to H.S. seniors); active participant at WFUMC; min. 3.0 grade point average; commitment to church, school and/or community within past two years.
Renewals: Full-time student; active WFUMC participant; 3.0 grade point average; continued church, school and/or community commitment within past year.

*The next UMW Women’s Outdoor Gathering will be held Tuesday, May 25 at 10 AM, behind the Education building. Bring your mask and your chair, and please do not forget to complete your Health Acknowledgement Form.
*We remain hopeful we will soon receive a major indoor and outdoor worship update soon from the Alexandria District. At present, it is permissible for us to resume Small Group meetings with no more than 10 attendees inside. If the positivity rate goes back over 15%, we will have to return to meeting outside.
*UMW Scholarship Fund Drive. Spring is in the air, Cicadas are singing, and graduations are being planned. Our UMW is planning to award scholarships to church graduate applicant selectees. Our youth have hearts for missions & service and bring light and vitality to our church. Due to COVID, the UMW have missed many of its regular fundraising events this year and must supplement the scholarship fund. Please help fund scholarships for our youth by making a donation to the WFUMC UMW Account (Note “scholarship” in memo line). Thank you!
* SEEKING OVEN THERMOMETERS FOR EDUCATION! Nancy Warner’s daughter (6th Grade teacher at Washington Mill Elem. School) needs oven thermometers for her students’ use in a science project involving construction of solar cookers. Each student requires an oven thermometer and would be tremendously grateful to borrow yours! Please initial (marker is fine) and place them in Beth Jones’ box in the church office 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM between May 24 – 28. Beth is also willing to pick them up if you give her a call. All loaned thermometers will be returned in early June. Thank you!

The VA Annual Conference of the UMC is requesting “Kits for Conference.” This year’s kits will go to local ministries designated by our district, and we’ll focus on four needed items: Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Baby Wipes, and Disposable Diapers (any brand, size, or type is appreciated).
Please place donations in box marked “Kits for Conference” on the upstairs landing of the Education Building by Sunday, June 13. Monetary donations are also welcome. Checks (made payable to WFUMC with “Conference Kits” on memo line) can be mailed to Washington Farm UMC, P.O. Box 36, Mt. Alexandria District Superintendent Rev. Jeff Mickle retires this summer. The Alexandria & Arlington Districts will celebrate his wonderful ministry on Sunday, June 27 from 3-4 pm via a virtual Zoom webinar.
