Plant

Since our first service on March 13, 1966 at Washington Mill Elementary School until today, we have been planting the seeds of faith that grow strong disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

We hope you will be part of what God is doing at the little green church on the corner.

History and What We Believe

Find out about Washington Farm's past, what it means to us to be part of the United Methodist Church and how all this informs our present.

Christian Education and Family Ministries

We are committed to growing disciples of Jesus Christ at every age and along every point in their journey.

Fellowship

We believe that being nurtured involves fellowship. We say hello and goodbye, eat together, and in enjoy growing as brothers and sisters in Christ by spending time in small interest groups.

Worship

We are currently worshiping at 10:00AM on-line. If you worship with us on Facebook, you will be greeted by our head on-line usher, Bob and his amazing team. While this period of time has meant we are apart from one another physically, WFUMC wants to continue to connect with those we have yet to know, those we know well and everyone in between!

Sunday School for all ages is now on-line at 11:00. Contact Sam at education@washingtonfarmumc.org for specifics on your age group.

Starting Sunday, September 13th and continuing through the fall we will have Sunday evening devotions outside at 6:00. Bring your own chair.

In traditional times, we would worship in the sanctuary at 9AM and 11AM. Communion would be every first Sunday of the month and weekly at the 9AM service during the “high holy seasons”. Our choir rotates services because everyone loves them so much and they don’t want to choose which service to be part of! The nursery is available at both services with our amazing attendants Berta and CJ who have taken care of many generations of WFUMC kids.

Come just as you are most comfortable and bring the family as they are most comfortable.

Music

Music is an important part of the life of Washington Farm. From the hymns we sing together on Sunday morning (right now we are not singing together in corporate worship, only in our on-line worship) to the very talented musicians who share their gifts with us in a variety of ways, we consider music to be one of the defining parts of our worship and we strive to praise God well through our musical offering.

The Chancel Choir sings at all worship services at Washington Farm UMC, alternating singing at the 9 AM service one week and the 11 AM service the next week from the Sunday following Labor Day, through the end of June. The choir does not sing during the months of July and August, but does have groups and individuals from the choir who assist in the summer services. Rehearsals are every Wednesday at 7:30 PM from the Wednesday after Labor Day through the last Wednesday in the month of June.  All who love music are welcome to join us. It is a wonderful way to praise the Lord and enjoy the company of the choir members.

The Cantata Choir consists of members of the Chancel Choir, in addition to members of our congregation and friends of members who only have time to participate in choir in the singing of the Easter and Christmas Cantatas. Both the Easter and Christmas Cantata are sung at both the 9:00 and 11:00 services.  The Cantata choir begins rehearsing 6 weeks prior to the performance. The rehearsals follow the 7:30 PM Chancel Choir rehearsals, beginning at 8:15 PM on Wednesday evenings. All are welcome to join us in preparing ourselves, and our congregation and community for Easter and Christmas.

Fun with the flute! The Washington Farm Flute Ensemble welcomes all flute players!

Do you play the flute? Or did you play in high school? Why not get your flute out and come play with the flute choir! The group rehearses most Sundays around noon, enjoying a wide and varied repertoire of music. There are no auditions to play in this welcoming group which includes professionals as well as relative newcomers to the flute—all are invited!

Washington Farm’s Wind Ensemble plays on special occasions during the year. Do you have experience playing a band instrument? If so, Washington Farm’s Wind Ensemble has a place for you! The group plays at various church events and services. The band is a mixed ensemble of people who love making music: some professional musicians, some students, adults who played as students, and others who are relatively new to playing in a band. There is a place for everyone in the Wind Ensemble!  Rehearsals are scheduled periodically throughout the year. Contact the music department for further information or to find out when the Wind Ensemble is scheduled to play.

This FREE, one-week camp is geared to elementary students and offers group instruction in PIANO, GUITAR, HANDBELLS, BUCKET DRUMMING, and BIBLE STORY, taught by licensed and experienced teachers. All instruments provided.

Registration opens in March-April each year and fills up quickly.

For questions, please contact the music department.

Christmas Trees are

Trees Arrive November 21st.

Christina_Family-69

This year, like most places, our tree lot might feel a little different. We will all be a little further apart in distance, masks will be covering our faces and we might not seem quite as eager to jump on your car to help tie the tree down (don’t worry…we will still help, it will just be a little more distanced help this year).

But a lot won’t change.

We will be smiling big under our masks ready to welcome you.

We will help you find the perfect Fraser, Canann or Balsam for your holiday.

We are still trimming the bottoms of trees.

You can still take as many trimmings home as you would like.

The fire barrel will be lit and the lights will be hung.
