Caring for Our Neighbors This WinterPhoenix Rising Food Packing & Delivery | Starts Tomorrow at 10:30 AM | Sanctuary Basement This winter, in addition to our monthly food ministries that support Rising Hope and Woodley Hills, our Outreach Committee is walking alongside our neighbors along the Route One corridor in even more ways. Tomorrow, Friday, January 30th, starting at 10:30 AM in the sanctuary basement, volunteers will prepare and deliver 154 food bags through Phoenix Rising, offering nourishment and encouragement to neighbors living in motels and temporary housing. A Washington Farm gift of $1,000 is helping support Rising Hope’s expanded Hypothermia Program, which now shelters up to 40 guests each night. We're also preparing teams to cook and serve hypothermia meals on February 22 and March 22. Please pray for those who are unhoused or struggling to stay warm in such bitterly cold weather, and consider attending Rising Hope’s volunteer training to support their hypothermia ministry directly. Your generosity continues to strengthen our community and offer hope where it is needed most. If you have questions about how you can help, please get in touch with Donna J or Mary R. |

Conversations That Led to the CrossStarts Monday, February 23 This Lent, you’re invited to a six‑week study exploring The Last Supper: Conversations That Led to the Cross, a new series by retired Bishop Will Willimon. Together we’ll gather at the table with Jesus and his disciples, listening to the stories that shaped the journey from Palm Sunday to the cross and preparing our own lives for the season ahead. The study meets on Mondays, February 23–March 30, at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary Basement and 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. All are welcome to join for one session or the whole series as we enter Lent with intention, reflection, and community. Books are $18 on Cokesbury and also available digitally for about $10. Please email Pastor Claire (pastor@washingtonfarmumc.org) to sign up and indicate whether you’ll purchase the book through the church or on your own. |

A Public Witness for Immigrant JusticeFebruary 25, 2026 | Washington, DC and Online The story of God’s people is a story of migration; from Noah carried through disaster, to Abraham and Sarah called into a new land, to Joseph sold into slavery, to Mary, Joseph, and a young Jesus fleeing violence, and to the disciples carrying the gospel across empires and kingdoms. In Leviticus, scripture calls us to love the foreigner as our native‑born, and in Matthew 25, Jesus tells us that in welcoming the stranger, we welcome Him. In that same spirit, United Methodist agencies, our Virginia Conference Bishop, many District Superintendents, and other clergy from the Virginia Conference are joining interfaith partners in Washington, D.C., on February 25 for Faithful Resistance: A Public Witness for Immigrant Justice. 9:30am – 10:00am | Gathering (Capitol Hill United Methodist Church) For details or to register, please use the link below, and let Pastor Claire know if you plan to attend. Remembering Bessie Tucker Lovelace
Washington Farm gives thanks for the life of Bessie Tucker Lovelace, who, together with her husband Jessie, faithfully cared for our church campus for many years with quiet dedication and deep kindness. We invite you to read her obituary and give thanks for a life rooted in faith and service. The family recently sent a card expressing gratitude for the flowers our congregation shared in her memory. Please hold Jessie and their family in your prayers in the days ahead. |

Baubles, Bangles, and Beads Boutique
The Ladies are hosting another Baubles, Bangles, and Beads Boutique this spring—outdoors, under sunny skies (we hope!). As you are tucked in cozy with winter ice outside, consider setting aside a box at home for gently used jewelry, handbags, scarves, hats, hair accessories, jewelry boxes, and stylish clothing. Men are welcome to donate too—think watches, wallets, or other baubles. Decluttering now means less stress later—and your donations will support a joyful event and a worthy cause. Keep that box handy and plan to bring it in this spring. Questions? Contact Beth Jones. |

Worship This WeekSunday, February 1, 2026 In 1 Corinthians 12:12–27, Paul reminds us that the Body of Christ is made whole not by sameness, but by the beautiful diversity of its members. As we celebrate Disability Awareness Sunday, we remember that welcoming all is not an aspiration but a calling woven into our very identity as the church.
