Let's Give a BIG Thank You to Donna & Steve
Let's celebrate Steve Brown and Donna Julian for their faithful leadership of our Christmas Tree Ministry. To show our gratitude, we’ll present them with a thank you card and a Mount Vernon Inn gift card. The card and a collection basket will be available in the piano room across from the kitchen during lunch this Sunday. Try to give to this one in person so we can surprise Donna, too. Steve and Donna devote nearly full-time hours to Washington Farm’s ministries—finance, outreach, trustees, Sunday School, and more. Yet, they still showed up for every single Christmas Tree Lot shift, hefting trees, serving as cashier, and greeting neighbors with warm smiles and hospitality. Please note: this article will not appear in Steve and Donna’s copies of the newsletter—so the surprise remains safe! |

We’re extra excited to have special guest musicians joining us in the choir, on violin, flute, and percussion. Their lively sounds will bring the music to life and add a Celtic flair to the morning. Please bring your little ones to enjoy the music. There will be no nursery or preschool, so everyone can be part of the celebration. After the service, stick around for a potluck luncheon. |

Serving Our Neighbors Together
The Outreach Committee extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in the Rising Hope Angel Gift project, serving families along South Alexandria’s Route One Corridor. Washington Farm donated 55 coats, gifts, and gift cards, and also joined in distributing presents, wrapping, and baking cookies. The events were truly enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you for helping make someone else’s Christmas a more joyful celebration. Another Christmas Tree Project is Wrapped UpThank you, Volunteers! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Christmas tree project a success. Whether you unloaded and stacked trees, hauled them across the lot, tied them to car roofs, trimmed stumps and branches, worked the cashier table, or greeted our neighbors with a warm welcome—you helped create a joyful, community-filled season at our church home. A special thank you to Steve and Donna, who once again spearheaded this effort. Their leadership and dedication—volunteering at nearly every shift—made this 41st year possible. We’re grateful for every helping hand and every friendly smile. Thank you for serving together and sharing the spirit of the season with our whole community. |

A Family Tradition of Music at Washington FarmFrom Sunday services in the 1960s to student recitals today Deborah Carpenter, a local piano teacher, and her sister have hosted her students’ annual recitals at Washington Farm since 1998. Their roots trace back to a cousin of Johann Sebastian Bach, every generation since has been musicians. When Deborah's mother heard Washington Farm needed an organist in the late 1960s, her father assured her that “it’s just like playing the piano.” As a 9th grader, Deborah, and then each of her sisters, played Sunday services until the last graduated from high school in 1976. By the 1990s, Deborah and her sister began teaching music lessons, and Washington Farm was the natural stage for their students’ recitals. Since 1998, their annual fall recital has been a cherished tradition. Sharing this space has not only nurtured young musicians but also strengthened the bonds of our community. Be sure to check out the thank-you card above from this year’s students. |

Worship This WeekSunday, December 21, 2025 Join us for Light of Peace, a full Celtic service of Lessons and Carols. Familiar Irish and Scottish hymn tunes blend with Celtic folk melodies, reels, and airs, paired with texts that call us to live out love in action. Through music and lessons, we reflect on Christ’s humble birth and the angels’ song to shepherds, seeking to be inspired to heal the world with love.
