Every fall, neighbors across Mount Vernon set aside a Saturday morning to work side by side for kids in our community. This year's Community Service Day, formerly Day To Serve, is Saturday, September 26.

The project is Power Packs: bags of food that go home with elementary students in Fairfax County public schools who need weekend meals. 

Three ways to help.

Assemble. Sign up at the link below or in the Narthex to volunteer on September 26. We need at least eight volunteers.

Shop. Sign up below or grab a tag in the narthex to buy supplies. See the sign-up or tags for what's needed. 

Give. Give online here, noting "MV Community Service Day," or give at church using the Community Service Day envelopes in the pews, or make checks payable to WFUMC noting "MV Community Service Day" in the memo line. Volunteers will take care of the shopping.

Please bring food and donations to church by Sunday, September 20, so we have time to shop and deliver.

Washington Farm has turned out as many as fifteen people in past years. It's a good morning to help our neighborhood children and meet neighbors who show up for the same reason we do.

Stop by at 8:45 for breakfast and fellowship. Stay for a study on becoming disciples who Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Lead Courageously. We'll wrap up in time to worship together at 10 AM and learn more about this United Methodist denomination-wide opportunity.

Ginger has had an additional procedure. She is still far from well, but she seems to be finally headed in the right direction. 
Miriam will likely have a heart monitor implant procedure on September 10. 
Please pray for both of them and their care teams.
