Who We Are
Rooted in Love. Growing in Faith. Serving with Joy.

We are Washington Farm UMC, a warm, welcoming congregation nestled in a historic one-room schoolhouse just outside the gates of Mount Vernon. Our members span generations, life stages, and backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to faith, service, and community. We gather weekly for worship, study, and service; not because we have all the answers, but because we believe love is how faith shows up in the world.

We Are Worship & Song

Worship is at 10 AM every Sunday, blending tradition with warmth. Our choir lifts voices in song weekly and hosts seasonal cantatas. On the First Sunday of each month, all are welcome at the table to celebrate communion.

We Are Disciples

Each Sunday, we have nursery care for our littlest and Sunday School full of stories, crafts, and activities for our preschoolers and elementary-aged friends.

Our youth and young adults gather on Sunday evenings for dinner, Bible study, games, and service projects. Young adults also meet monthly for a shared meal and study, both in person and online.

All adults can choose from a variety of book and seasonal studies offered weekdays, both in-person and online.

We Are Love in Action

Our feeding ministries serve children, families, and adults experiencing homelessness in our region. From weekend meals for local students to hot meals at the hypothermia shelter, every bag and plate is prepared with love. We also support Angel Gifts and food drives for Rising Hope United Methodist Mission Church.

We Are Sensational Seniors

Our joyful group of seniors gathers for themed events like a Mystery Theater Cruise Luncheon, a Broadway Brunch, Pizza & Puzzles, and Hurray for Handbells. Whether it’s solving a mystery, learning to play handbells, or a “puzzling” Bible story, we share laughter, faith, and friendship.

We Are Women in Faith

Women in Faith gather regularly for spiritual programs, mutual support, and crafting fundraisers. We offer scholarships to our college students, support local and international missions, cook meals after hospital stays, and host joyful seasonal events. The not-so-secret sisterhood is a quiet force of love and generosity.

We Are Mount Vernon

Whether welcoming neighbors to our Music Camp and beloved Christmas Tree Lot, or opening our doors to Girl Scouts, AA groups, Garden Club,  Little League board, music recitals, or fellow congregations, we believe hospitality is holy work. Our building may be small, but our welcome is wide.
